WHEN?

Saturday the 1st of September 2012, from 12h00 until midnight.

WHERE? NIEUW ZUID!

For a fourth time in a row, Laundry Day will take place on festival site Nieuw Zuid, in the south of Antwerp. The official address of the site is Ledeganckkaai, 2020 Antwerp. It's very easy to reach the festival site on foot, by bike, by car and by public transport.
ATTENTION! The Ledeganckkaai will be closed for traffic on September 1st!

Take a look at the map below to orient yourself.

GOING ON FOOT?

From the centre of Antwerp walk southwards along the Scheldt quays and you will automatically arrive at the entrance of the festival site. Nieuw Zuid is located near the new building of the Bank van Breda, and just before club Petrol.

If you're arriving from Linkeroever (the left bank of the river Scheldt), you have two options. We suggest that you use the 'Sint-Anna Voetgangerstunnel' between the Frederik Van Eedenplein (Linkeroever) and Sint-Jansvliet (Rechteroever, the right bank of the Scheldt, where Laundry Day takes place) - its elevators and escalators have quite a large capacity for pedestrians and cyclists. Once at Rechteroever, the festival site is only a 10 minute walk away. The other option is the 'Fietstunnel', near the Kennedy Tunnel, between the Beatrijslaan (Linkeroever) and d'Herbouvillekaai (Rechteroever). Once above-ground you'll find the festival site just a stone's throw away to your left.

COMING BY BIKE?

Great idea, because Laundry Day and newspaper De Morgen provide a covered bike parking, ridiculously close to the festival site! The exact address of this bike parking is De Gerlachekaai, at Hangar 13B. With the help of a huge sign 'FIETSENPARKING', you definitely won't pass it without noticing. There is enough space for about 2000 bikes. The use of this covered bike parking is FREE. Attention: this is an unguarded bike parking. Coming by bike from Linkeroever (the left bank of the river Scheldt)? Find out how to reach the festival site under 'Going on foot?'!

ATTENTION! Putting away your bike properly is very important, as you may NOT attach your bike to the fence of the festival site - we have to be able to open the fences at all times in case of an emergency!

COMING BY PUBLIC TRANSPORT?

Coming by bus?

Check the website www.delijn.be for the De Lijn route planner where you can check and print the tram and bus schedules. Did you know that the Antwerp bus network has an extensive system of night buses? You can take these night buses without having to leave the festival before the last beats hit your ears.

Coming by train?

Than you can hop off at three locations: 'Antwerpen Zuid' (Antwerp South), 'Antwerpen Centraal' (Antwerp Central station) and 'Antwerpen Berchem' (Antwerp Berchem). Did you know that the NMBS offers reduced fares for train trips on weekend days? You'll find all the necessary information on their website.

Anyone traveling from East Flanders or West Flanders should get off at railway station 'Antwerpen Zuid': the NMBS (National Railway Company of Belgium) will provide an extra stop at 'Antwerpen Zuid' for ALL of these trains, as well as all trains heading back to East or West Flanders. And, best of all... It's only a 15 minute walk from railway station 'Antwerpen Zuid' to the gates of Laundry Day! The map above instantly shows you how ridiculously close you'll be able to get off. Or hop on when, sadly enough, the party's over...

Party people traveling from elsewhere will arrive at 'Antwerpen Centraal' or 'Antwerpen Berchem' - they should consider two options. One option is Antwerp's bus and tram network. The buses and trams that get you to the festival site, are listed below:

    •    From train station 'Antwerpen Berchem': tram 8, bus 30.
    •    From train station 'Antwerpen Centraal': trams 12 and 24, bus 23.

Buses 290 en 500 from 'Rooseveltplaats' (about 500 meters from 'Antwerpen Centraal'); buses 1 and 13 from Teniers (intersection De Keyserlei/Leien, about 400 meters). These buses and trams will get you to Laundry Day in about 15 to 20 minutes. The other option is to switch trains - hop on a train that is directed to East or West Flanders, and get off at station 'Antwerpen Zuid'. All of these trains will make an extra stop at 'Antwerpen Zuid' on September 1st! Again, from here on it's only a 15 minute walk to Laundry Day. When you're leaving Laundry Day, you can use these extra stops as well to get back to railway stations 'Antwerpen Centraal' and 'Antwerpen Berchem'.

Keep in mind that most of the train connections don't offer late departures! Final train connections from station 'Antwerpen Zuid' (about 1500 metres from Laundry Day) are listed below:
    •    to Neerpelt: 21:47, transfer at 'Antwerpen Berchem' om 22:25
    •    to Charleroi: 21:39, transfer at 'Antwerpen Berchem' om 22:44
    •    to Mol: 22:47, transfer at 'Antwerpen Berchem' 23:25
    •    to Hasselt: 22:39, transfer at 'Antwerpen Berchem' 22:48
    •    to Leuven: 22:39, transfer at 'Antwerpen Berchem' 22:52
    •    to Luik: 22:39, transfer at 'Antwerpen Berchem' 22:52 (via Leuven)
    •    to Essen: 22:39, transfer at 'Antwerpen Centraal' 23:35
    •    to Amsterdam: 22:39, transfer at 'Antwerpen Centraal' 23:00
    •    to Gent: 23:13 and 23:48 (bear in mind that if you take the 23:48 train, you won't be able to transfer onto another train anymore once you have arrived at Gent Dampoort!)
    •    to Kortrijk: 23:13
    •    to Oostende: 23:13
    •    to Brussel-Zuid: 23:18, transfer at 'Antwerpen Berchem' 23:48
    •    to Turnhout: 23:18, transfer at 'Antwerpen Berchem' 23:33
    •    to Sint-Niklaas: 23:21

Bear in mind that in weekends, the trains operate according to another schedule than on weekdays! Check the website www.nmbs.be for the NMBS route planner, where you can check and print train schedules.

COMING BY CAR?

You should aim for the new Law Courts of Antwerp. The festival site is just behind the Law Courts. Drive southbound along the Scheldt Quays or Singel or take the exit CENTRUM-ZUID on the Antwerp Ring Road.
If you are travelling from Ghent, then take the exit CENTRUM-ZUID (this is the first exit to your right after the Kennedy Tunnel). ATTENTION: stay to the right of the new Law Courts, do not drive into the tunnel under the Law Courts as you will probably get stuck in a traffic jam!
If you are travelling from Brussels by motorway, then take the Antwerp Ring road in the direction of Antwerp Centrum. If you are coming via the A12, then just continue straight on and follow the arrows for Antwerp Centrum.
ATTENTION! The Ledeganckkaai and Generaal Armstrongweg will be closed for traffic!

Parking your car

ATTENTION! You won't be able to reach the entrance of the festival site by car: both the Ledeganckkaai and Generaal Armstrongweg will be closed for traffic! We recommend that you use one of the spacious car parks nearby to avoid traffic nuisance in the centre of the city and in the vicinity of the festival site:

  • Car park in Desguinlei, at buildings of PIVA (GPS: Desguinlei 244, 2018 Antwerpen)
  • Car parks on the left bank (Linkeroever) from where you can easily reach the festival site through the pedestrian tunnel or the bike tunnel (GPS: Blancefloerlaan 22, 2050 Antwerpen)
  • Car parks on the Scheldt quays in the north of Antwerp (GPS: Sint-Michielskaai, Plantinkaai, Ernest Van Dijckkaai, Orteliuskaai)

You can easily reach the festival site on foot from all these car parks in just a few minutes. If you're from Antwerp or surroundings, the best idea is to come on foot, by bike, public transport, or a combination of all three. We have a dedicated bike parking - just have a look at the info above.

Kiss & Ride

Parents who are dropping off or picking up their kids should use our Kiss & Ride area, which is located in the car park in Groothandelsmarkt (across METRO). It's only a 10-minute walk from Laundry Day. It is also located outside the one-kilometre radius around the festival site, where traffic will probably be congested. Moreover the car park is easy to access via Singel and the Antwerp Ring Road. We will also place a large tower here so that you can easily orient yourself.
ATTENTION! The Kiss & Ride area is strictly intended for dropping off and picking up festival attendees.

PRACTICAL INFO FOR WHEELCHAIR USERS: WHEELS ARE WELCOME!

The Laundry Day festival site is completely flat, meaning: either grass or pavement (asphalt, concrete or gravel) and is fully accessible to wheelchair users. You may have to push a little harder on the gravel though... There is a wooden floor in front of most of the stages, which means you need to negotiate a 5 cm ledge, but... with a little help from your friends…!

We have not provided specific areas for wheelchair users in front of the stages but this should not be a problem. You do not to fit your wheelchair with Monster Truck tires because Laundry Day festival-goers are not only renowned for their party skills but also for their courtesy.

You can easily reach all areas, zones and stages on the site using the paved paths which criss-cross the site.
The six toilet zones at Laundry Day have all been equipped with a toilet for wheelchair users which you can use for free all day if you buy a wristlet to use the facilities.
